When you come to Cuba, you can fully understand its history by visiting the Museum of the Revolution.

The Museum of the Revolution is housed in the former Presidential Palace, built between 1913 and 1920 and used by several Cuban presidents, the last of whom was Fulgencio Batista. The interiors are decorated by the famous Tiffany's of New York.

This monumental building located in the center of Havana houses one of the most interesting museums in all of Cuba and is a must-see, especially for anyone curious about Cuban history.

The museum displays various exhibits and collections with photographs from the revolutionary era, flags, documents, weapons, and other objects related to the revolutionary struggle against Batista and the history of Cuba, Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, and Camilo Cienfuegos in chronological order.

The tour begins with Cuba's pre-Columbian culture and continues to the present day.

Highlights include exhibits on the 1953 Moncada Barracks assault and the life of Che Guevara, housed in the lower rooms.

At the museum entrance is a fragment of the city's old walls and a SAU-100 tank used by Castro during the 1961 Bay of Pigs Invasion.

Behind the building is the Granma Memorial Pavilion, a tribute to the 43-foot-long Granma yacht used to transport Fidel Castro and Che Guevara, along with 80 other revolutionaries, from Tuxpan, Mexico, to Cuba in 1956 in the first attempt to oust the American-imposed president, Batista.

The vessel is displayed inside a large glass case. This pavilion is surrounded by small planes and other vehicles associated with the Revolution and is accessible from the Museum of the Revolution itself.

You'll also visit the Hall of Mirrors, which hosted gala balls and the most important ceremonies with heads of state and nobility of the time. Originally conceived as a meeting place for noblewomen, it is now a place of protocol.
